NINE-HOUR FAREWELL TO THE QUEEN OF SOUL
Star-studded funeral took place on yesterday (August 31st) in the hometown of Aretha, Detroit, MI! This was a lengthy but very heartfelt service. So many dignitaries, celebrities, etc. were in attendance for the private ceremony that was streamed live for the world to see! All who wanted to honor the Queen and say their final goodbyes had the grand opportunity to do so on yesterday whether in person or from afar.
Although Aretha’s funeral was definitely one to remember, many were in total shock that the services took nine hours. I even have to admit that was a bit too long, but I also have to admit that there were still several highlights that I truly enjoyed. They are as follows:
Smokie Robinson’s eulogy of which I had a feeling he would sing “Really Gonna Miss You” and that he did!
Bill Clinton’s eulogy had just the right amount of humor and love.
Pastor Donald Parsons really drove it all home putting things into perspective!
Living legend… the beautiful and talented, Ms. Cicely Tyson’s “Aretha Sings” monologue was PHENOMENAL!
Mississippi was represented well by The Williams Brothers singing “Precious Memories” along with Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
Tyler Perry always does an amazing job at every endeavor and is very heartfelt.
Jennifer ‘J-Hud’ Hudson’s “Amazing Grace” was beyond dynamic! She’s also set to portray Aretha in her biopic.
And of course, I cannot forget the finale performance/tribute from Stevie Wonder!
So many heartfelt moments took place during Aretha Louise Franklin’s funeral and although a lengthy one, ReRe’s send off definitely exuded the R-E-S-P-E-C-T a Queen deserves!
Aretha, you will be truly missed, but your legacy will always live on…
TRENDY BIZZ CHELLE B BROUGHT TO YOU!
Not only did the world say goodbye to the Queen of Soul, but also to Senator John McCain! His memorial was held on today in Washington, D.C. The world also tuned in to livestreams to witness the services. I personally enjoyed President Obama’s eulogy. See below:
