Coco Chanel has spent her entire life loving radio! She remembers pretending to be a radio personality as a young child at WJSU, a jazz radio station on the campus of Jackson State University where her father, Larry McAdoo, was General Manager. So naturally radio has been a lifelong dream, and Coco is living it up!
Coco Chanel has been a part time DJ at WJMI since November of 2002. In addition to growing up in the media world she got her first real on-air experience as a Mass Communication student at Jackson State University in the early 1990’s. She fell in love with radio, and has no intentions of falling out of it.
Coco is a proud mother of a 14 year old daughter and that keeps her pretty busy but looks forward to her next phase of life which will include the start of her mentorship program called Second Chances, which will provide academic assistance, college and career training, as well as tools to help young ladies overcome challenges that may come their way. Coco believes that everyone has the potential to become great no matter what their circumstances are. Giving back is of utmost importance to Miss Coco!!
She brings her passion into her work and is using her platform for good. Once during an interview with Fantasia, Coco encouraged her and said, “Don’t be ashamed of your past, your story shows young girls that no matter what you go through, if you don’t quit, you will win”
Currently, Coco is working as a radio talk show producer/host and finishing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at JSU. She happily entertains and connects with listeners every weekend from 10 am to 2 pm, right here at 99 Jams WJMI!
